Brooding, meaty, savoury.
Township 7's Benchmark Series Reserve 7 is red meritage blend of one-half Merlot with the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon coming from their Blue Terrace Vineyard in Oliver, Merlot from their home vineyard in Naramata and Cabernet Franc from their Raju Vineyard in Osoyoos.
It was aged in French and American oak barrels; the components for 12 months then once again when blended, for 12 months.
It has a dense, almost brooding character with leather and toasted spice, tobacco, smoked meat, black currents and plum. It's meaty on the palate too, fresh but not plush with polished tannins and a long finish of coffee, toasted spice, tobacco and leather.
If drinking now, decant and pair with grilled foods or hard cheeses.
