Muscular, smooth, savoury.
Township 7's Benchmark Series Reserve 7 is red meritage blend of one-half Merlot with the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon coming from their Blue Terrace Vineyard in Oliver and the Cabernet Franc from their Sunshine Acres and Raju Vineyards in Oliver and Osoyoos.
It was aged in French and American oak barrels. for 12 months then aged again in bottle for 12 months.
Notes of spiced rubbed sirloin and red currents, blackberries and cocoa dusted plums, salted licorice and espresso lead to a smooth and muscular palate. It's restrained and has some distinct Old World character. Acidity is on-point and it has salty/umami undertones. I think it still needs time, or if you want to drink now, decant and pair with grilled foods or hard cheeses.
