This new fairtrade red is named six hats for Citrusdal Wines' belief that terroir is more than just soil and climate but people too. The six hats stand for sustainability (at the core) but also partnership, change, dignity, potential and equity - the focus of fairtrade products.
It is brimming with mixed red and black fruit, spice rub, toast and dried herbs, hints of iodine and vanilla with savoury undertones. The palate leans toward savoury as well and is layered with bittersweet cocoa and peppery spice. Good balance with a fairly smooth texture.
Pair with game meats or pretty much anything beefy and grilled.
