WineDiva's Review

New, bitter, thin.
This newly released salmon pink wine, produced and bottled at Two Press Cellars in Oliver, is a mere 6.3% alcohol due to its production method. Leftover pressed skins (from a field blend of grapes), from a previously made wine are added to water, which adds colour and some flavour extraction and tannins from the leftovers. This method, called piquette is used for making a simple product from something that was to go to waste anyway.
While I applaud the second use of the skins, this is not a drink for everyone. Vague strawberry tealeaf, orange blossoms and peach stone notes are deeply underscored by cedar sawdust aromas. The palate is thin with a hollow mid-palate and short finish. It has notable bitterness--but it is low alcohol.
Pretty label, pretty colour of juice, but I could not finish my glass.
