Furst is considered the nobility of German Pinot Noir.
Weingut Rudolf Furst has a history as winegrowers back to 1638. When Paul and Monika Furst took over the winery in 1979, they built today’s estate buildings on the outskirts of the village. They began with only 1.5 hectares of vineyard but have gradually expanded the vineyard area to the current 21 hectares, 60% of which is planted to Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir).
A mid-toned rusty ruby shade the Furst shows wonderful classic pinosity; woven notes of cherry and red current, dried violets and lilac rest atop hints of elastic band and cola spices. It's silky and elegant; there's nice restraint here and plenty of stony minerality layered with sour cherry flavours. Great acidity, great bones.
Outstanding.
