Savoury, spiced, fresh.
Lakeside Cellars is a 14-acre estate on the eastern shore of Lake Osoyoos. It rests on what used to be the Haynes Homestead. Unable to save the existing structure, new owners Harbans and Harkesh Dhaliwal used parts of the historic estate when building their new tasting room in 2016.
A step up from the previous vintage, this now sold out at winery 2017 Syrah suggests charred blackberries woven with smoked spices, bacon fat, dried herbs, dark chocolate, espresso and paprika. Fresh, spiced and meaty on the palate it expresses similar savoury spice, coffee and cocoa flavours.
This Syrah was aged in American oak for 24 months.
Pair: grilled meats, hearty stews, aged goat cheese, roasted mushrooms.
