Brooding contemplative, powerful.
This is an outstanding blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot from the Desert Ridge Vineyard in the hot and arid Osoyoos, located at the southern tip of the Okanagan Valley.
In an interesting twist, the nose on this vintage is less expressive than the palate; I generally find this to be the opposite in most wines. Brooding and earthy, it is grounded in black fruits, tobacco and mocha. The palate is laden with sweet cassis, plums and wild berries with a core of baking spices, tealeaf and cocoa.
Like the previous vintage, it is a contemplative wine with supple tannins and very good complexity.
