Precise, persistent, complex.
Blue Mountain is a family-owned and operated winery locaed in the sub-GI of Okanagan Falls. They've been grape growers on their stunning estate site overlooking Vaseaux Lake for decades (since '71) and followed up making wine under the Blue Mountain label. Sparkling wine is not the only thing they do, but they are most well-known for it and have set the sparkling bar high in Canada.
This sparkling pink (a blend of Pinot Noir and 33% Chardonnay) was aged on its lees in bottle for 30 months before being disgorged in August 2019. It was aged an additional year in bottle.
A pale salmon-hued fizz it expresses red berries and tangerine, fine spices, forest floor, earth and faint brioche notes. Extremely precise (a hallmark of Blue Mountain) it has just enough creaminess to dell a razor sharp edge of acidity. Red berries, lemon brioche, tangerine and faint spice flavours linger on a persistent finish.
