Muscular, fresh, savoury.
Regional wine pioneer Fort Berens, is located at the base of the Fraser Canyon, near Lillooet where they make mostly estate-only wines.
The 2021 is made entirely from Lillooet Pinot Noir (with splashes of Merlot and Cab Franc).
Notes of cedar and tobacco, tomato leaf and orange peel, leather and toasted spices are underscored by tangy red berries. It's a muscular rose, quite earthy and savoury with herbal notes alongside bacon fat and salted red plums. Good freshness overall--a rose for fattier meats and BBQ.
