Silky, woven, mature.
Rioja Bordon has a lengthy winemaking history of nearly 125 years; it was founded in 1890, post phylloxera. This 2009 is a blend of Tempranillo (70%) with Garnacha (20%) and Mazuelo (10%) was matured 36 months in American oak before bottling and receiving additional two years in bottle.
Expect stewed strawberries, kirsch and cigar aromas woven with charred licorice root, wet cedar, toasted baking spice, dry leaves and vanilla. The palate echoes the nose with sweet dried fruit, cigar and spice flavours. It's seamless and silky, still notably fresh, and boasts a long finish and polished tannins.
