The flagship white wine for Clos du Soleil is a version of Bordeaux blanc, combining Sauvignon Blanc with Semillon.
Located on Similkameen Valley's Upper Bench, Clos du Soleil (vineyard of the sun) is an artisan winery making Bordeaux-influenced wines that reflect their home terroir, they also adhere to the philosophies of minimal-interventionist winemaking and biodynamic viticulture.
This vintage Capella is a blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc, and 15% Semillon (grown in Oliver), which was hand harvested then fermented entirely in barrel (60% French oak puncheons and 40% stainless steel barrels) with the majority undergoing only wild, spontaneous fermentation. One third of the barrels were also allowed to undergo wild malolactic fermentation. All lots were barrel aged for nine months, on the lees, with lees stirring.
It leads with beeswax and honeysuckle, nettle and grass clippings, melon and lemon oil aromas. A citrus dominant palate is lashed with peach drippings and crunchy green apple. Bold acidity is carved off by attractive creaminess; seamless with lovely purity.
