Toasted. complex, zesty.
The 2018 Gran Reserva Pere Ventura brut is a blend of 60% Xarel-lo and 40% Chardonnay grown on estate sites in the upper and central Penedes, in the heart of Catalonia. Part of the Chardonnay was fermented in oak and barrel aged with lees stirring for five months, lending it such toastiness.
It shows some age, and has notable yeasty/grilled brioche aromas woven with toasted nuts and spices, applesauce and grilled lemons. Bone dry and complex, it has very ripe yellow fruit flavours alongside melon rind and orange slices and charred honey. The finish is zesty the mouse is creamy.
