Savoury, brooding, muscular
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (17%), Merlot (57%) and Cabernet Franc (26%) combines fruit harvested from the estate in Lillooet and sourced grapes from the Similkameen Valley. It is partly made in the passimento style (as the classic Valpolicella Rispasso/Amarones are) using partially dried Cabernet Franc grapes to increase intensity; it was barrel aged for 14 months in French and American oak.
Expect some evolved notes of prune along with tomato leaf and roasted espresso beans, toasted spice and currents, green olives and tobacco. Savoury and spicy, the palate shows wild red fruits and dried currents, pepper and toasted spice. It is muscular and robust, but smooth with good freshness; the finish trails bitter chocolate.
