Solvero (Latin: Truth in soil is a new winery located in Garnet Valley in Summerland. They focus on small batch wines and take pride in protecting and promoting biodiversity of the land producing grapes with purity and a sense of place. They support minimal intervention and transparency in all aspects of wine production. I am told the winery is almost 10 years in the making, owned by the Sartor family with Alison Moyes as winemaker. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is their focus, grown in the estate Garnet Valley and Happy Valley Vineyards.
Made entirely from Pinot Gris, the 2022 was vinified in neutral French oak 50% and Stainless Steel 50%.
Notes of pear and peach stone are layered with papaya, honey and spring flowers. It is dry and zesty with flavours of Asian pear and banana with salty undertones. Lovely weight and concentration.
