Silky, seamless, sophisticated.
Araldica is a third-generation, family-operated co-operative based in Piedmont. They work with over 230 Piedmont grower members and produce the high quality Piedmont wines from the most prestigious winegrowing DOC and DOCG regions including Barbera, Gavi, Langhe, Moscato, Barolo, Barbaresco, Monferrato and Roero.
Made entirely from hand-harvested Nebbiolo grapes harvested from around the town of Barbaresco (covering all three communes of Treiso, Neive and Barbaresco) the grapes are de-stemmed and then crushed into small fermenters, for around 12 days, with daily pumping-over. This ensures good colour and flavour extraction while avoiding over extraction of Nebbiolo's abundant tannins. After pressing, the wine was settled for two days, and then racked to Slovonian oak botte and barrique, where it was aged for 2 years followed by 6 months maturation in bottle before release.
Strawberries and smoked plummy aromas are layered with dried roses, vanilla, salted licorice, leather, wild herbs and espresso. Notable structure here, yet it shows liberal juicy red berry flavours longside dried tobacco and leather.
Silky, sophisticated and seamless, it is a lovely food wine.
