Supple, bright, stylish
Only 17 barrels of the Platinum series Pinot Noir were produced in 2019. The Home Block, planted in 1991, is located around the existing and newly renovated winery, restaurant and guest center. It's made from a mix of Burgundian clones and was aged on lees in French oak barrels for 16 months.
I have to admit, the combination of blocks (rather than the single block Aspect series) seems more harmonious. Not that the single blocks are not outstanding, but the blend stands out.
Beet and black cherry aromas are woven with licorice, purple flowers, vanilla, fine spices and Turkish coffee. It has a supple entry with sweet bright fruit flavours. Outstanding style and balance overall with chalky tannins across the finish. Very Pommard-esque.
