Unique, fruity, pristine.
A newer winery, located in the Okanagan Valley, Lunessence launched in 2014 after taking over a property in Summerland.
The owner's philosophy is also hidden in their name: Lunessence where Luna=Moon + Essence. The essence of the Moon. Moon as an important part of biodynamic farming that they are implementing. There are no pesticides or herbicides used in their vineyards with a focus on natural wines. According to partner/winemaker Michal Mosney (he and his wife moved to Canada from Slovakia several years ago) they ideally use only native yeast, no, or minimal fining (only bentonite and time), and very light or no filtration at all.
A blend of Pinot Blanc and the German variety, Oraniensteiner, which lends it a very Muscat-y persona, this wine is brimming with guava and peaches and has snappy undertones of green apples and honeysuckle. A pristine palate greets you, it is juicy and off-dry with full-throttle fruit cup flavours. An entirely unique wine with a clean, mouthwatering finish.
