Honeyed, concentrated, complex.
Time (along with Evolve Cellars and McWatters Collection and the winery + kitchen and tasting bar in downtown Penticton) is now under the umbrella of Five Vines Cellars after being purchased from the McWatters family by Ron and Shelley Mayert in June, 2020. Christa-Lee McWatters remains as general manager and Darrian McWatters as operations manager.
A nod to the white blends of Bordeaux, this Meritage combines Sauvignon Blanc with 27% Semillon, which are grown in the Silver Barrel Vineyard (Okanagan Falls) and the Desert Wolf Vineyard (Oliver).
Honey and grass clippings, beeswax, green apples, peach blossoms and lime aromas lead to a slick and mouthfilling palate with lovely weight and concentration. Woven, complex and fresh, it's a wine with no sharp edges, and just a suggestion of oak from the partial barrel fermentation.
Pair: grilled white fish, goat cheese souffle and herbed chicken or vegetarian pasta dishes.
Second review, March 8, 2021:Nettle and gooseberry, honey and stone fruits, beeswax and lime zest aromas meld with undertones of wet stone. Plenty of zest and vigor here, it's waxy and slick, harmonious, postured and serious. The finish seems a bit hotter than when I tasted it last fall.
