Raspberry, fragrant, floral.
A blend of Dijon and Pommard clones and matured in 100% French oak.
Spierhead sits high above Kelowna on a cool climate site well-suited to Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The nose on this top-tier Pinot Noir offers plush raspberry, juicy cherry, spicebox and leather, dried violets and cedar chips. Bright, floral with expressive fruit it has oodles of acidity and good persistence trailing cocoa, spice and vanilla.
Second Review: Nov 2016
This elegant Pinot is showing even better nine months after my first review.
Wild strawberries, sweet cherries, oak spices, dried violets, beet greens and cedar with rainforest floor at its core. It is a joyous wine; silky, and savoury with great typicity. It is harmonious, the finish is lengthy and trails fine spices and cigar flavours.
