Brooding, toasted, balance.
Clos du Soleil's Celestiale red is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec.
It delivers a brooding nose of rich chocolate, espresso, wild black berries, toasted spice and dried herbs. The colour is starting to turn slightly to brick, it is a leaner style than I remember of previous vintages. The fruit is somewhat tangy with tart red plums and red currents with tobacco. Good overall balance and persistence.
Pair: Hearty pasta dishes, aged cheeses, grilled meats and roasted root vegetables.
