The Riserva tier is the second highest level of Chianti Classico wines after Gran Selezione. This one, from Mazzei has a beautiful parchment wrapped label sealed with a wax insignia.
Ser Lapo doles out aromas of vanilla and cedar, cherries and cigar, pipe tobacco, baking spices and dried roses. As expressive as the nose is fragrant, the palate is fresh and juicy with red fruit underscored by leather, dark cocoa, tobacco fine spice flavours. The tannins are gritty, the structure and balance are in check.
