Fleshy, grippy, intense.
Lunessence launched in 2014 after taking over a property in Summerland and with them brought a philosophy of biodynamic farming. Ergo, there are no pesticides or herbicides used in their vineyards, and they have a focus on natural wines.
This Merlot comes from Osoyoos and was fermented in French oak (12% new), went through spontaneous ML then aged 12 months in oak. Unfined and unfiltered.
Expect notes of plums and smoked spices, chocolate and black cherry, espresso, leather and tobacco with salted licorice undertones. In the mouth it is intense, dark and earthy with mixed red and black wild berry flavours. Fresh but also grippy it has a fleshiness and notable salinity alongside flavours of spice and dark mocha.
