Fragrant, muscular, balanced.
Moon Curser is known for having a diverse portfolio of rare varieties, including this Tannat. The first to plant this tannic French variety in BC, they continue to champion and finesse it.
The 2013 has the time it needs in bottle; the nose is fragrant with blackberries, dark chocolate and purple flowers atop leather, toasted brown spices, black pepper and beef stock aromas. It has notable suppleness on the entry and overall is muscular and a bit brooding and boozy. Nonetheless, it's wonderfully balanced and the tannins have integrated wonderfully.
It's wonderful to see how well they've managed this grape and given it time to properly mature before release.
The 2013s are sold out at the winery, the 2017 is available for $42.99
