Savoury, tangy, fresh.
This is the first time I've tasted a Rover Stone Cabernet Franc in almost a decade, this new model is the first from their Boulder City Vineyard in the South Okanagan. It was matured 18 months in French Oak.
It's notably savoury on the nose; tobacco and pencil shavings, smoked paprika and sausage alongside dried rose petal, currents cedar and blackberry. The entry is fresh, the wine medium-bodied. Tangy red fruit, fine spice, cocoa and tobacco flavours are expressed on the palate. The finish lingers nicely.
