Slick, buoyant, harmonious
Located in Summerland, Lunessence (where Luna=Moon + Essence) is a biodynamic estate. There are no pesticides or herbicides used in their vineyards with a focus on natural wines; they ideally use only native yeast, no, or minimal fining (only bentonite and time), and very light or no filtration at all.
This 2021 rose, harvested from the Drachenberg Vineyard, is Malbec, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. The grapes were foot trodden the juice soaked with skins for one hour to get this stained white. It was then aged 5 months on lees in stainless steel. new 2022 correct image
Notes of small summer berries mingle with peaches and melon, honeysuckle and fresh wild herbs. It's delicious and quaffable, tangy and slick with juicy summer fruit flavours. It's a harmonious pink with lovely buoyancy and persistence.
