Stunning, complex, admirable.
The Dr. Burklin~Wolf estate is the sole (monopole) owner of the top-rated Gaisbohl Grand Cru classified site. Located in Ruppertsberg the total site extends 8 ha, of which only 5.2 ha are GC. The origin of site goes back to the medieval times and is located at the foot of the Mittelhaardt mountains; it benefits from an advantageous temperate microclimate. The deposits of gravel in terraces with layers of clay in the soil provide Gaisbogl its huge body and elegant acidity; the coloured sandstone ensures a very long maturation potential.
This 2016 has a deepish yellow hue and smells of warm peaches and resin, salted limes and lemon curd, crushed stones, meringue and honey with vaugue undertones of mushroom. It has a thickness and weight that hugs the palate, admirable intensity and a powerfully long finish. Complex with an inherent earthiness, it's a stunning bone dry wine.
