Supple, muscular, earthy.
This unoaked, slate grown Carignan (90%) and Grenache blend comes from the DO of Montsant, named for the mountain near Barcelona.
You can expect intensity right out of the gate. It is supple and generous with plenty of chocolate, purple berries, toasted oak and vanilla aromas with hints of iodine. It has a fresh yet earthy character offering concentrated flavours of briary berries, dark chocolate and espresso. If not for the lively acidity, it would be brooding. A muscular wine with superfine tannins and good persistence.
