Gorgeous, purity, seamless
Christian Collovray and Jean-Luc Terrier (Collovray & Terrier) were school friends who were so inseparable they married two sisters, and thanks to their love of wine, forged a bond between Burgundy and the Languedoc.
It began in 1986 when they joined forces to manage Christian's family vineyard that had been cultivated since 1928 by his grandfather. They named the venture Deux Roches (two rocks) for the Roche de Vergisson (in Saone-et-Loire) and the nearby Roche de Solutre (just west of Macon), these ancient angular escarpments are roughly two kilometers apart and 500m high; both can be viewed from Deux Roches in Davaye, Bourgogne.
The domaine's focus is to make mineral-focused and terroir-driven Chardonnays grown in clay-limestone soils.
The Macon is known for its rolling limestone hills that experience more sun, less rain, and less risk of frost than the rest of Burgundy. The vines that produce the Chardonnay that goes into our Macon-Villages 'Tradition' are planted in the clay and limestone soils of Charnay, Davaye, and Pierreclos.
It exudes freshness; honeydew melon and lemon, golden apples and acacia aromas atop sugared nuts and vanilla. Equally pretty on the palate it's a jubilant and harmonious wine brimming with yellow fruit, floral and fine spice flavours. Creamy and lengthy, simply lovely.
