Elegance, balance, fresh.
The da Silva estate is located on the Naramata Bench and is owned by Richard and Twylla da Silva. The da Silva story begins in 1955 when the family moved from Portugal to the Okanagan Valley--in 1959 they purchased an orchard. Almost 50 years later, in 2006, the family built a winery and today they draw fruit from 11 different vineyards/growers located in: Oliver, Osoyoos, Keremeos and Penticton.
The winery is also home to The Kitchen at da Silva, where a fusion of Mexican~Portuguese tapas is the theme.
The gravel loam Outwash Vineyard in Oliver is home to the Cabernet Sauvignon vines for this 100% Cab Sauvignon and it was matured in equal parts French and American oak (medium+toast) for 26 months.
Pencil shavings and black currents, steamed plums and dark chocolate, wet cedar, sage brush and hints of licorice describe the nose. It's a fresh red with a supple entry and leans toward the Old World in character. Salted plums and chocolate hazelnut flavours are nicely woven on a balanced palate. Nice elegance and structure here, with good persistence.
