Power, slick, fresh.
Lunessence was established in 2014 in Summerland and their name pays homage to their philosophy, combining Luna (moon) and essence. The moon is also as an important part of the biodynamic farming they practice. There are no pesticides or herbicides used in their vineyards and ideally they use only native yeast, and no (or minimal) fining.
This 86% Cabernet 14% Merlot blend is expressive as heck; it rolls out with potent sweet purple fruit, licorice, vanilla, cedar chips and violets with chocolate undertones. It's quite rich on the palate too. The entry is slick and it suggests cocoa and brown spices, leather, mixed dark berries and tobacco flavours. Power, structure and freshness.
