Restrained, savoury, fresh.
I visited the Zorzal estate a decade ago, when the winery was brand new and only partially built in Gualtallary, a remote slice of Tupungato in the Uco Valley. I was wowed by the purity and honesty of the wines.
The soils of Gualtallary are chalky, a characteristic found in the wines.
Expect notes of grilled sausage and black pepper, blackberry and red plums, espresso, brown spices and saddle leather. The palate is equally savoury but notably fresh. Red berry flavours are woven with toasted spice. tobacco, bitter chocolate and coffee. It has a muscular frame and restrained palate.
