Salty, savoury, smooth.
Made from one of the smallest micro-blocks of Culmina's Golden Mile Bench, Arise Vineyard, this first-ever orange wine was harvested in late September and processed with minimal handling and winemaking inputs; only 150 cases were produced.
Polarizing as orange wines are this one has more character then many I've tried. A cloudy salmon pink it suggests orange pekoe tea and desiccated roses, bruised apples dusted with fine pepper spices, oyster sauce and tree moss aromas. The palate is an echo of the nose. Dried salted oranges and exotic floral aromas dominate while tealeaf trails on the finish. The entry is smooth it has texture and weight as well as good freshness and length.
