Woven, spicy, fresh.
The cooperative cellar of the winegrowers of Castelas was created in 1952 when a handful of winegrowers combine efforts to develop the wines of the Cotes du Rhone, Cotes du Rhone Villages Signargues, AOP Tavel and IGP du Gard. The cellar's vineyards covers 450 hectares mainly in Cotes du Rhone with a combined 45 families of cooperative winegrowers.
It's a blend of Grenache (60%) and Syrah (40%) aged 15 months.
Notes of spiced black cherries and licorice, plum cake and salted licorice, carob, chocolate and garrigue lead to a concentrated palate. Fresh and generous it has fleshy black and purple fruit, white pepper, espresso and chocolate. Good structure and length--nicely woven.
