Succulent, toasted, woven.
This Syrah was made with fruit from the Fool’s Gold Vineyard in Oliver. It was planted over a decade ago by Richard Cleave, the Okanagan’s most renowned viticulturist; this rocky vineyard is western sloping to fully benefit from afternoon sun. One half was fermented in oak foudre and the other co-fermented in stainless steel with 10% Viognier. It was then barrel aged for 24 months in French and American barriques.
Beautifully refined and formed with notes of black pepper, prune plums, blackberries, vanilla, salted licorice, espresso, black chocolate and violets. Chocolaty flavours lead the palate and are woven with green olive tepanade, pepper, dusty plums and chocolate.
More BC meets Northern Rhone than Southern Rhone.
Pair with wild game or grilled eggplant with aged goat cheese.
