Earthy, honest, savoury.
This Northern Rhone-meets-Okanagan style of Syrah grown on Bartier's Cerqueira vineyard on the Black Sage Gravel Bar in Oliver was aged in neutral oak barrels for 17 months before bottling.
The 2018 has lovely reflective ruby glints and offers loads of finely ground black pepper, sage, dark chocolate, espresso and spiced rubbed meat alongside tangy blackberry and red plum aromas. The palate delivers wild berry flavours carob and oak spice; a lengthy finish trails coffee. Ripe tannins add texture and it has a fresh earthy character overall.
