Structure, savoury, fresh.
Formerly labelled the Platinum Block 4 Pinot Noir, this new label refers to the Aspect (aka direction and slope of the vineyard) of Block 4, which is planted with vines (clones 115, 667, 777) well over 20 years old and located on the upper slopes of CedarCreek's Home Vineyard. The 2018 spent 14 months in French oak barrels, 22% new.
Notes of salted licorice are layered with wild herbs, carrot tops, cedar chips, apple peel, raspberry seeds, bacon fat, cocoa and tobacco. Still tightly woven it has a fresh entry with fine spice, cedar, coffee beans, cigarette ash and dark chocolate flavours. The tannins have a sooty sort of mineral texture. It has structure in spades, but needs time to coalesce.
