Lemony, toasted, fresh.
Barrel fermented with wild yeast and then aged on lees in French (25% new) barrels for 10 months with partial malolactic fermentation, this Chardonnay, from the estate's Saddle Block Vineyard, is made from clone 95 from the Cote d'Or, France.
Notes of grilled pineapple and lemon meringue are underscored with browned butter, creamed yellow plums, acacia and beeswax aromas. It has notable oak influence along with spice, toasted hazelnut, charred lemon peel and a good dose of waxy lemon flavours. The acidity is outstanding and it has lovely persistence.
Pairs great with Gone Crackers Undressed.
