Blasted Church 'Hatfields Fuse', Okanagan Valley BC, 2009
Readers rated this wine:
Now this is a wine that screams summer! Always one of my favourite aromatic BC blends, the Hatfield's Fuse features a funky new label, even more delightfully cartoonish than the last. A melange of perfumed varieties combine to release a fruit-cup of aromas liberally spiced with vanilla syrup, honeysuckle and tangerine. The palate is creamy and vibrant, spicy and slick with sweet fruit and vanilla flavours. ©copyright 2010 Daenna Van Mulligen

Blasted Church 'Mixed Blessings', Okanagan Valley, 2008
Readers rated this wine:
The hot-of-the-presses Mixed Blessings label takes a step into the controversial subject of non-traditional unions by making you question - who really is marrying whom? These award winning cartoonish labels have always been tongue-in-cheeky, so It's doubtful anyone will take offense. A white blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Ehrenfelser produces fruit-cup aromas of pear compote, tangerine, muskmelon, hints of spice and honey. The texture is creamy, loaded with tree fruits, exotic citrus and star anise flavours.

Burrowing Owl Estate Syrah, Okanagan Valley BC, 2007
Readers rated this wine:
An impressively complex wine that shows what BC can do with Syrah in the right location. Blackberries and plums with plenty of chocolate, cedar and spice, a hint of graphite, espresso and savoury undertones of garrigue and smoked meat. Those savoury aromas reappear on the palate - it's a gutsy wine, chewy, meaty and concentrated with great acidity and flavours of char grill, mocha and fine white pepper with ground coffee and spice flavours lingering on the finish. ©copyright 2009 Daenna Van Mulligen

Burrowing Owl Estate Winery Meritage, Okanagan Valley BC, 2006
Readers rated this wine:
A powerful wine, at moments brooding and intense and then supple and seductive.... Chocolate covered cherries and cassis liqueur waft out of the glass followed by spice and leather, sage and sweet menthol, pencil shavings and rich dark earth. The palate has a smooth entry, it's dense and forward with ripe fruit, tobacco, mocha and spice to elevate the heat. The finish is long and the spice lingers.... Tasting pretty good right now, but if you are a cellar fiend a few years won't hurt. ©copyright 2009 Daenna Van Mulligen
