Velvety, supple, balanced.
Established in 1968, Hester Creek is a pioneer of the Golden Mile Bench sub-GI outside of Oliver.
This new addition, under the estate's Storied Series is only available through Hester Creek's wine club called The Bench Club; 500 cases were made.
The grapes for this small lot Cabernet Sauvignon are grown on vines planted 15 years ago; it is a warm site on the Golden Mile Bench vineyard--blocks 7 and 8. They vines are French Clone 191 from St. Emillon and clone 169 from Bordeaux. It was barrel aged in primarily French oak for 18 months.
The nose suggests velvety aromas of cassis and cola spices, bourbon vanilla, cherries rolled in cedar dust and coffee. It has good bones and balance, classic Cabernet character and a supple weight. Flavours of chocolate and pencil shavings, spice, tobacco, leather and black fruits are expressed on the palate.
