Mount George 'Red Wire', Hawkes Bay New Zealand, 2008
Readers rated this wine:
Made by Hawkes Bay producer Paritua, the Red Wire and its sibling White Wire are not only new to BC but they are fresh and affordable offerings worth seeking. The Red Wire is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. It has plenty of sweet, ripe berries, chocolate and spice followed by vanilla and toasted hazelnut with a core of dark earth and wild herbs. A supple wine presenting layers of mixed berries, cocoa and coffee, herbs, green olive and smoky char but it is also nicely balanced with bright acidity. Very tasty! *Featured wine at the Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival's Vintner's Brunch. ©copyright 2010 Daenna Van Mulligen
