Poplar Grove's second label, Monster Vineyards, is very tongue-in-cheek, and offers an assortment of wines such as Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and a rose.
This is a substantial red - it's pretty much a fruit-bomb of Cabernet Franc with 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, which leads with aromas of Ribena, black cherries, baking spices, vanilla, mocha and undertones of savoury herbs. It tastes like it smells - oodles of cocoa, ripe berry and cherry flavours balanced with bright acidity.
A mouth-filling red, you won't want to put down, but you will want to pair it with burgers, pizza, ribs or chili (basically anything you'd be serving while watching the game).
