Review: Oct 2010
There were only 85 cases of this potent 2009 Cabernet Franc made.
It is quite dark and brooding on the nose - chocolate and black berries, mocha and pipe tobacco, dried herbs and warm spices. There are super-fine powdery tannins across the palate and layers of smoky spices, savoury flavours, black fruit, bittersweet chocolate and espresso. It is a muscular red with firm ripe tannins on the finish.
Bravo!
Recommended pairings: BBQ meats, pork tenderloin, game.
Second Review:
Wonderfully fragrant with sweet black raspberry, vanilla, baking spices, crushed purple flowers and sarsaparilla. The fruit is dark and dusty with cherry, bittersweet chocolate and fine spice flavours. The tannins are still firm but ripe. It has liqueur-like concentration and long, chocolaty finish.
Great focus, delicious wine.
Recommended pairings: grilled steaks, pork roast, lamb, braised veal, hearty red pasta sauces, venison in blueberry sauce, mild and strong cheese.
