Austere, fresh, classic.
Located on the Naramata Bench, Domaine Roche is owned by Penelope and Dylan Roche, and while they are established in the Okanagan Valley, they have roots in Bordeaux and Burgundy.
The estate vines (farmed organically) are located on the southern edge of the Naramata Bench, overlooking the city of Penticton and Okanagan Lake, and are rooted in a mix of silt, organic matter and gravel.
The vineyard adjoins the winery and includes Schonberger, Zweigelt, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (the latter two were planted in the summer of 2017).
It has classic Pinot characters and is reminiscent of a Cotes de Nuits; rhubarb and beet greens, red currents and toasted coriander aromas rest atop rainforest floor and wet leather. Tangy red fruit is shy, but is layered on the palate along with leather and rhubarb; tobacco flavours roll across the finish. Fresh and austere.
