Harmonious, racy, precise.
The flagship white wine for Clos du Soleil is a version of Bordeaux blanc; it combines Sauvignon Blanc with Semillon.
Located on Similkameen Valley's Upper Bench, Clos du Soleil (vineyard of the sun) is an artisan winery making Bordeaux-influenced wines that reflect their home terroir, they also adhere to the philosophies of minimal-interventionist winemaking and biodynamic viticulture.
The 2020 Capella is a blend of 77% Sauvignon Blanc (Keremeos estate fruit), and 23% Semillon (from Oliver), which was hand harvested then fermented entirely in barrel (partial French oak puncheons and partial stainless steel barrels) with the majority undergoing only wild, spontaneous fermentation. A portion of the barrels were also allowed to undergo wild malolactic fermentation. All lots were barrel aged for nine months, on the lees, with lees stirring.
Lemon peel aromas meld with pine, beeswax, star fruit peach fuzz, pine, toasted spice and wildflowers. It has a slick texture, is complex and racy with citrus and yellow fruit flavours to mimic the nose. Woven, harmonious and persistent.
Brava as always.
