Powerful, intense, slick.
At 170 years old, Yalumba is the oldest family owned winery in Australia, home to one of the largest viticulture nurseries and the only winery cooperage in the country.
Yalumba was also the first to commercially plant Viognier in the Barossa Valley in 1980 when there was only an estimated 11-14 hectares in the world, primarily in Northern Rhone Valley. For many wine lovers, Yalumba's Viogniers were their first taste of the variety; this one, like the Vigilius is from the cooler higher elevation Eden Valley, part of the Barossa.
Lemon oil and beeswax aromas are layered with peach compote, ginger root, straw flowers, warm honey, tealeaf and brown spices. Oily and slick it doles out stone fruit, punchy citrus and spice flavours to mimic the nose. Notable intensity here with a long and powerful finish.
