This Cru Beaujolais comes from the smallest of the ten Crus, Chenas, and is made from the classic grape of the region, Gamay.
There is currently a sister label in BC Liquor Stores, the Jullienas, which is also fantastic. But this Chenas was my favourite of the two - it's more elegant, a chic feminine style.
Expect fragrant raspberry, violets, red currents and sweet spice. It's medium-bodied and wonderfully juicy with sweet red fruit and fine cocoa. It has a fine texture and very good structure - the finish is long and fresh.
A wine for white meats, like turkey, chicken or pork, soft cheese, salmon or earthier dishes like creamy mushroom risotto.
