Men in
Moustaches

Let's be clear,
I don't have a moustache fetish.
In fact I've given them very little thought except when I've seen them on a face
where they just don't belong.
The recent-ish retro trend of the moustache seems to have died a quick
death. I assume because those who decided to follow it were ridiculed at work.
But this week while out for a run on the seawall a middle aged man wearing a
conductors hat smiled at me as he was walking his dog. He had a massive, bushy
graying 'stache. But more importantly, a big smile, dimples and a sparkle
in his eye.
Suddenly it hit me.
Its not so
much the facial hair as the face itself.
I've decided that moustaches work best on men who have that twinkle, that
whiplash grin and kind eyes.
Dimples don't hurt either.
Think about it-
Tom Sellek, Sam Elliot and Burt Reynolds all work it.
And my good friend Joel Siegel who owns Vancouver's famed Siegel's Bagels is one
of the most handsome men I know. He's tall and fit with a thick white moustache
and a head of hair to match. He's also 70 and doesn't look a day over 50! But
Joel has the most sparkling blue eyes and always wears a huge smile underneath
that bushy 'stache.
Without the twinkle and the smile moustaches often look mean or downright evil
depending on the wearer.
And of course who has the most famous moustache of all attached to a round face
with rosy cheeks and a sparkling set of peepers...
Santa!
See more moustaches...
more moustaches
and even more
moustaches
