2nd Crossing Long Creek Red, Okanagan Valley BC, 2008
Readers rated this wine:
Twisted Tree's second label is named for the winery's location, found at the second crossing of Long Creek and Highway 3 just east of Osoyoos. And like Long Creek, this wine will only flow in some years.
The aromas are dark and earthy - plums, black berries and dark chocolate with spice and hints of marzipan. The wine is smooth on the palate with sunbaked earth, black fruit, wild herbs and peppery spices. Very nice structure and balanced acidity with a firm finish.
Nice complexity - well done!

Coltiva CIV&CIV Lambrusco de Modena Amabile, Emilia Romagna Italy
Readers rated this wine:
Fun!
Here is a perfect summer sipper that will also pair well with Proscuitto di Parma and Parmagiano or a nice mixed antipasti platter.
This historical wine from Modena is a simple grape-y berry flavoured red frizzante (slightly bubbly) with an off-dry but balanced palate, nice weight and just a suggestion of tannin.
Chill it down and enjoy it all summer, the 8% alcohol is a blessing on hot summer days and the price makes it an easy buy-by-the-case wine.

Readers rated this wine:
And now for something completely different! Lambrusco (also the grape variety name)must be tasted to understand. Purplish/red in colour with random frizzante bubbles and a pink frothy cap. Intriguing aromatics of red berries and blackberries a combo of sweet and intense. Sweet herbal, liquorice and 5-spice with a dusty sweetness on the palate. The perfect sparkling wine for a cold wintry night that will stand up to some pretty robust dishes or simply served as an aperitif.

Cooralook Pinot Gris, Victoria Australia, 2008

A very impressive Pinot Gris made mostly from Strathbogie Ranges grapes with 10% from Mornington Peninsula. It has had enough skin contact to lend it a pretty salmony/golden hue and it releases lovely aromas of pears and honey, spring blossoms and hints of spice with tropical undertones. It is rich in the mouth with a creamy texture and bright acidity, the finish is extensive and faintly spicy.
