Emiliana 'Coyam' Colchagua Valley, Chile, 2007
Readers rated this wine:
It's hard to forget standing in Emiliana's verdant, biodynamic vineyard on a surprisingly hot November day in 2008, with sweat trickling down my back - it was my first biodynamic experience, but since then I've had several more around the world.
A truly fantastic blend of organically grown Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Mourvedre this seductively fragrant wine offers chocolate coated berries, black plum and cherry, fine spice, crushed flowers and licorice. It has a plush palate laden with rich fruit, molten chocolate and spiced mocha. It is a concentrated wine, beautifully balanced by bright acidity and ripe tannins.

Emiliana is the leader in organic and biodynamic viticulture in Chile and large scale biodynamic leaders world-wide -having visited, I know they take this stuff very seriously!
This recently released 2009 Carmenere Reserva is made from organically grown grapes and offers excellent value. It presents aromas of red berries and cherries, chocolate and sweet licorice with a core of dried herbs and roasted red pepper. The palate is smooth and fresh, sweet fruit pops through mid-palate layered with bittersweet chocolate, warm spice and tobacco flavours. Nice firm structure and bright acidity with an impressive finish. ©copyright 2010 Daenna Van Mulligen

Hope Estate "The Cracker" Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot, Western Australia, 2004
Readers rated this wine:
In this era of the battle for visability on the shelf, Hope has taken bold to the bottle with bright red labels, solid high bottles and catchy proprietary names. The juice in "The Cracker" matches--Brawny and spiced with an intense combo of fresh berry and dried fruit aromas followed with vanilla and sweet liquer-like fruit and spice on the palate. Lush and full-bodied, this wine aims to please. ©copyright 2007 Daenna Van Mulligen
