Inniskillin 'Discovery Series' Chenin Blanc, Okanagan Valley BC, 2007
Readers rated this wine:
Inniskillin Okanagan's fearless winemaker Sandor Mayer's 'Discovery Series' wines are smaller quantity, less common (to BC) varieties, some of which may forge a path for future plantings in BC's wine country. The Chenin Blanc has aromas of baked apples in butter and vanilla cream, vibrant citrus and honey blossoms. The palate is snappy with bold acidity - the flavours echo the aromas with apple pie and vanilla, mixed white fruit and citrus. The finish is lemony and quite warm. ©copyright 2010 Daenna Van Mulligen

Inniskillin 'Discovery Series' Marsanne~Roussanne, Okanagan Valley BC, 2008
Readers rated this wine:
This is a scent-sual wine laden with peachy/mango fruit, lime leaf and honeysuckle aromas. The palate is concentrated, quite voluptuous with plenty of sweet, creamy peach and zesty citrus flavours with hints of warm caramel and a pinch of spice. Great acidity throughout also balances a slightly oily finish that clings to your tongue. A 50/50 blend that is even better than the 2007 vintage. ©copyright 2009 Daenna Van Mulligen

Straw coloured with golden glints this is a fresh Chardonnay with juicy pineapple and vanilla aromas with undertones of candied nuts and sweet oak. Crisp white fruit and warm spice flavours with vanilla and a suggestion of marzipan on the palate - a great sipper that lingers on your tongue but would also pair well with creamy/nutty sauces. ©copyright 2008 Daenna Van Mulligen

Inniskillin Discovery Series Marsanne Rousanne,Okanagan BC, 2006
Readers rated this wine:
Do you want the good news or the bad news first? Okay, the good news is this, when you review wine all the time you look for the "wow" wines. Somthing new, interesting and delish, like this one. Marsanne & Rousanne are classic to the Rhone and South of France where they produce powerful, baked fruit, floral and minerally wines that age extremely well. But the Inniskillin version impresses me with its freshness and delicateness. The bad news is the very, very limited 78 cases available at the winery only--sigh. Alas, sweet spiced pear and honeysuckle aromas with a backbone of smoke and minerality. Crisp on the entry with fresh quince, lush citrus and cinnamon spice, softly rounded on the mid-palate and lingering on the finish with smoke, vanilla and zest. Bravo! ©copyright 2007 Daenna Van Mulligen

Inniskillin Discovery Series Petit Verdot, Okanagan Valley BC, 2006
Readers rated this wine:
It's rare to see a wine made from 100% Petit Verdot - even more so in BC. This wine has primary roasted aromas, char and smoke, dark earth and cocoa with black fruit and espresso notes. The palate follows suit, it's meaty, very chewy and dense with similar char and toasted oak flavours with loads of spice, bittersweet chocolate and coffee ground flavours lingering on the finish. A wine best served with grilled meat. ©copyright 2009 Daenna Van Mulligen

Inniskillin Discovery Series Pinotage,Okanagan BC, 2006
Readers rated this wine:
Just Released!
This special treat arrived in an unlabelled bottle far before the release date set for the upcoming holiday season. That didn't sway me though as I dove into what I considered a curiosity, a new release wine made from the hybrid South African grape - a varietal that we hear less and less of from SA each year. The Inniskillin Pinotage surprised me with its juiciness, it's blueberry cream, violets, milk chocolate and vanilla aromas. And, it had me coming back for more of its fresh berry and coffee flavours with mouth-watering acidity and smooth texture. I strongly suggest you track some down to go with your holiday dinners - turkey, lamb or salmon or creamy cheeses. ©copyright 2007 Daenna Van Mulligen

A rich opaque burgundy-hued wine wafting sweet plum and stewed prune aromas. Quite rich and decadent on the nose reminding me of the summer's bounty of dark cherries with a side of dark chocolate.
